Light and Hope

Series: Light and Hope, an orchestra run by the Al Nour Wal Amal school for blind girls is one of a kind, consisting entirely of blind women who play both classical and oriental music. Here in Egypt, where many people fear that the flaccid youth culture is in danger of being drawn between the poles of religious extremism and a sleazy form of westernization, the women of Light and Hope, most of whom are in their teens and 20s, stand out for their resourcefulness and creativity.
